David Wayne Renken, son of Bill and Barb (Johannes) Renken was born January 16, 1970 in San Fernando, CA. Two weeks after his birth, the family relocated to Newell, Aurelia and in 1971 settled in Meriden, IA where he spent his childhood years. David graduated from Meriden Cleghorn High School in 1988.

Following high school, David joined the Navy. While in the Navy, he sustained an injury to his knee in which he received an honorable discharge in 1992. David had various jobs in Florida, California and eventually returned to his roots back in Iowa.

David enjoyed cooking, riding motorcycles and 4-wheelers, tinkering with cars, and watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers.

On September 21, 2010, David passed away at the age of 40 at his home. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

He is survived by his daughters; Nissa Renken of Cherokee, Iowa and Hannah Renken of Ft. Dodge, IA; parents; Bill and Barb Renken of Cherokee, IA; two brothers; William (Buffy) J. Renken of Cherokee, IA and Rodger Renken of Cherokee, IA; three sisters; Sherri (Lonnie) Benson of Meriden, IA, Debra (Dimitris) Pavli of Cherokee, IA, and Kim Renken of Cherokee, IA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

We always enjoyed having Dave around! He had a great personality and was such a hard worker. We both had a nice visit the last time he stopped by our house this summer. So sorry for your loss. We wish we could have made it for his services.

I have alot of comical memories of Dave from high school and how there was never a dull moment with Dave around especially when he was around Jay Barrit and Dean Rassel.I will remember Dave as a friend and classmate that made me smile and laugh alot.I will miss him.

Dear Renken Family.....Please accept my sincerest sorrow and condolences. I cannot imagine a greater pain than losing a child, brother and father at such a young age. David was one of the nicest guys I will ever know and his loss will be felt by so very many. Please know that he was so good with Michael when he was growing up and I will never forget his kindness and the friendship he showed to him and me as part of your wonderful family.
