My thoughts and prayers are with Angie and her family. Although I did not maintain contact after college with Mike I was always caught up when I spoke to Brian Becker. He was a mentor and friend in college on 9th Floor Storms at Iowa State. he, Brian, Shane and Chad made my first year much easier. he was a good man. I am very sorry for your loss .

Eugene and Ida Mae, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you and the rest of the family at this difficult time. We can relate in some ways to what you are going through. Haleigh's dad passed away after a car accident on April 10th. I only hope time heals some of this pain.

To the family of Mike Krueger,
You have my sincere sympathy. Mike was a great person. I first met Mike in Mt. Pleasant when I was teaching a course for the DOT and he was an EIT. I knew he would be a good engineer. When we were in Ames for supervisor/engineer meetings, I always tried to visit with Mike about work and life in general. Since he was working in NW Iowa, I tried to get a feel for that part of Iowa because I attended Buena Vista in Storm Lake during the 70's.
When we were recently in Ames for a training course, several of us went out for dinner. There was good conversation with Mike. We ended up having a long discussion about Little League. We each volunteer for our local little leagues and we discussed fund raising strategies because little leagues always seem to be short of funds.
I will miss Mike when we have our regular meetings in Ames.

Angela, You don't know me. I am the wife of Steve Trei, your Uncle. I lost my first husband much as you did. I was 26 and he was 30. There is a lot going on in your family right now with your dad, but I think of you because I know what you are going through right now. When it happened to me I just needed to know I was not the only one who had ever gone through it. Just want you to know. I had 2 children I had to explain this to. He was the love of my life. I had to carry on even though I did not know how. Then my mom died not too long after. It totally sucks. Angela...hang in there... If you would like to God bless you and your children. Sandy Trei

Angie, I am truly sorry for your loss. Mike will be missed more than words can be expressed. I regret not be able to have spent more time with him. I miss our trips to the shooting range where he would wait patiently for hours while I attempted to learn how to shoot long distances. He would just laugh and tell me to try again. He never lost faith in me. I will miss him. Scott

My condolences to Mike's family. I knew Mike a long, long time ago. I taught in George for one year and was fortunate enough to have worked with Mike in basketball his freshman year. He wasn't afraid to pitch in and help, even when we didn't think we needed the help!! We feel so very blessed to have gotten to know your family when we all lived in Mt. Pleasant. We had some good times....all the birthday parties, egg hunts...fireworks...cook name a few! May god hold you all close now and help you through this tragedy! To the family of Michael,
I have worked on projects with Mike in the past and was currently working on one with him. I was so shocked and saddened when I heard the news. I didn't know a lot about his personal life, but from what I could tell, he was a very loving father & husband. I pray for Michael and for you, so that God may take him in his arms and may comfort you through these trying times.

To Mike's Family:
I was very saddened to hear about the loss of Mike. I met Mike our Freshman year in college. We sat next to each other in Calculus. Throughout our years in college Mike and I had several classes together and eventually graduated together. I always considered Mike a good friend.
After graduation, we saw each other here and there at various conferences always making sure we talked to one another. When we would see each other would talk about what projects we were or had worked on, who was were and what they were doing, and our families. I remember right after at one conference (right out of college) many of were talking with several of the owners of the larger construction companies. Mike said “You guys know everyone. I don’t know anyone,” insinuating that we would advance in our careers before he would. Several years later, Mike became the RCE at Cherokee and I reminded him of our conversation and said “look who is further along in their career than the rest of us.”
I truly respected Mike. I even called him up once to ask his advice. He was a remarkable person who was always very friendly and willing to help. I will miss Mike tremendously.
My heart goes out to his entire family and friends. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow.
