Edward E. Rasch
May 10, 1939 - March 2, 2012
Edward "Ed" Eugene Rasch, son of Frederick and Jessica (Faye) Rasch, was born on May 10, 1939 in Racine, Wisconsin. He attended school in Racine, WI and graduated college from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He entered the United States Army in 1957 where he served four years.

On April 28, 1973, Edward was united in marriage to Margaret (Peggy) Sue Fish in Chicago, IL. To this union, a daughter, Margaret was born. Ed and Peggy owned three convenience stores before moving to Panora, Iowa where they owned and operated a grocery store for many years. Following their retirement they briefly owned a few Laundromats near Des Moines, IA. In 2000, Ed and Peggy moved to Cherokee when they purchased the Dairy Queen in both Cherokee and Storm Lake. Ed spent his years as an entrepreneur and enjoyed working. He was still employed at the time of his passing.

Ed enjoyed playing golf, searching for golf balls, and planting trees on his acreage. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren.

On March 2, 2012, Ed passed away unexpectedly at his home in Cherokee, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Jessica Rash.

Edward is survived by his wife of 38 years, Peggy; his daughter Margaret Wilson of Carroll; his three grandchildren, Matthew, Zachery and Christian, other relatives and friends.

Peggy and Margaret,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Ed was a good man who always treated me fairly. I learned a lot about hard work from him and I think he helped prepare me to become the man I am today. Although I have not seen any of you or years, please know I think of my time at the store very fondly. My prayers to you both. God Bless! Greg

Peggy,
I was so sorry to hear about Ed. He was so wonderful to Molly when she worked at the DQ; I was always glad to know he was keeping an eye on her! I know you and your family and many others will miss him very much. All you can do is keep putting one foot in front of the other. Take care.

Cheryle and I are very sad to hear about Ed's passing. I can remember the first time meeting Ed in relation to the Grand Apartments. I could tell right away that Ed was quite a character and who's personality I enjoyed tremendously. We are going to miss all the good conversations with him. He was always making fun of himself by telling me stories of his mishaps. We are going to miss him.
Thinking of you
