Margaret Louise Ferrin
October 22, 1927 - January 2, 2013
Margaret Ferrin was born on October 22, 1927 daughter to Byron and Alice (Anderson) Furgason and passed away peacefully on January 2, 2013 at Gretna Community Living Center in Gretna Nebraska. .

She grew up in the Quimby/Cherokee area and graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee in 1947. She worked as a dental assistant with Dr. McCallister& also worked at Royer Jewelry for a short time. While in the 4th grade Margaret met her future husband Clifford and it is even rumored that there was a playground kiss. On April 17, 1948 they were united in marriage and took up residence on the family farm in rural Marcus, Ia.

In addition to working on the dairy farm and raising 5 children,Margaret was a very good seamstress. She made family clothing, quilts, and shared her talents with a couple of businesses in Cherokee & her church. Margaret & Clifford enjoyed old time dancing, often traveling great distances to attend. She was very involved at Faith Lutheran Church in Marcus, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and holding offices on local and state womenís organizations. She was also a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and sharing her Swedish heritage with family and friends. No one canned pickles like Margaret Ferrin!

Margaret taught her family about faith, honesty, hard work and sacrifice, always willing to help those in need be it family, friends or strangers.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Byron and Alice, Brother Clinton Furgason, Sister Leona Engdahl, and her husband Clifford Ferrin.

She will lovingly be remembered by her children Linda (Ferrin) Lair and her husband Jim of Omaha, NE,Louise Ferrin of Sibley, IA,Joelene (Ferrin) Ewers of St. Petersburg, FL,Marilyn(Ferrin) Kofmehl and husband Steve of Adel, IA,and Charles Ferrin and wife Debbie of Firestone, CO. Her grandchildren Sarah Steward, Jonah Ferrin, Jered Ferrin, Ben Newcomb, Amber Daod, Karl Kofmehl, Anne Kofmehl, Kristen McCurdy, and Calie Smith. She had 7 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

We actually went to Margaret's funeral on Friday Jan. 11, thinking it was that day. What are the chances that there actually WAS a funeral that day!? We came into the church, signed the guest book, and were ushered almost to the front of the church before we looked at our bulletin and realized we were at the funeral of a dear 103 yr old woman. We 'slunk' out of the church, later to find out Margaret's funeral was Sat. Jan. 12. I thought, I bet Margaret is laughing her head off at us. Thank goodness we only signed the guest book and didn't drop our card into the basket. Margaret treated me like one of her daughters all the years I knew her. She was a wonderful joyful person, and I'm thankful for having known her. She is with our Lord and with her husband. Can't get any better than that!

Margaret and I graduated together from Wilson High in 1945. We didn't see each other much after graduation except at our class reunion held every five years, and then it was fun to catch up. She was a lovely person. You have Dale and my sympathy on her passing.

Mom and Aunt Margaret are together now. I miss the times the cousins would go ice skating,or sledding and Aunt Margaret would make a big pot of homemade hot chocolate with fresh milk. Miss you all. Love, Jody

Luci and family, Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss. She was a sweet sweet lady and took very good care of me when we stayed with her many years ago. That is a great memory for me and I still can taste all of the many fine meals I feasted on for the very first time. I am still a "cream" lover to this day even though there is no comparison to the fresh cream we ate there that day! Love and hugs to you all ~ Carol and Randy and family
