Bob, "squatty", was such a fine person. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Bob. "Squatty" could light up a room with laughter and yet could be so sincere and supportive. We have such great memories of him singing and dancing. May he bring that same energy to the heavens above. Bless the family of Bob.

Julie and Family,
My deepest sympathy to you for your loss. I have worked with Bob several times over the years and he is truly a force that will be greatly missed. He truly cared about people and it showed. He is an example of how everyone should aspire to treat others - always showing kindness. Just Monday he offered to start the state car to warm it up for me because he knew I was going to be driving it - I honestly don't think I have ever had anyone else do that before!! I am truly saddened by his passing - our world will not be the same without him in it. I will especially miss his sense of humor and great attitude. I am convinced that there isn't a single person that came in contact with him (even if it was for the briefest moment) that he didn't leave smiling and better off! May God bless & keep you and I hope you can seek to find some comfort in your memories.

I first want to say my prayers go out to the whole Schulenberg family. I met Bob in High School. We became very good friends. We played lots of Basketball together. Of course what kid at Rocket High didn't!! My were in mini-choir or swing choir and choir. Our junior year we were rated as the top swing choir in the state. Bob & I went to the State Music Clinic our senior year. I have many great memories of Bob, some we can talk about some others maybe not. Ha, Ha!! I saw Bob some after High school but we all go our ways in life. Bob you will always be in our memories.

Bob's family - I interacted with Bob when he worked at DHS and always looked forward to those times as Bob had wit, humor and compassion. Bob was a funny man but took time as well to really listen to others. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Julie and the rest of the family during this time. I know Bob's loss was unexpected and the healing process will be a journey. Bob left a legacy of memories that I know many will cherish. God bless all of you!

My sincere sympathies to Bob's family. Gone too soon! The humanity, inclusiveness and respect for others regardless of their position or situation that I saw Bob give unconditionally to everyone from co workers, clients and children was consistently given. His calm, steady kindness was so refreshing in many situations of strife, chaos and problems. Many of us that worked with him in different ways will miss him greatly, but I can not even imagine the loss for his cases / families he was presently working with and those from past. He will be missed, his presence will be missed in our community, but the lasting fruit of his work and his life are with us. He was an example for all of us. Thanks Bob!

Julie and family,
All of us knew Bob. His laughter and his jokes always made someone or our days full. When we were down and at the end of our rope, low and behold Bob was our knot. He never let us fall and always made time. In heaven he is still everyones knot and he will always be missed. But we will remember him for the man he was and the gift you shared with us. You have a special family that could share him all hours of the day and night and never get mad that he was with one of his other families, May God bless and strenghten you through this loss and he will always shine through the stars and sky to protect you and others . Our love to the family. Deb, Justin, Jayne and Harlee

Bob was a team mate and friend. I remember him going with Bruce Maske, Rob Ketterer and I to see Barry Alvarez in Madison, WI for their spring game. It was the last time we spoke. I am sorry that I didn't spend more time with him now. Funny how we think we will 'get around to it sometime', well...don't wait!
My condolences and best wishes to the family and friends. Bob was a champion and a great friend!

I worked with both you and Bob for so many years. Both of you were always so nice. I know I called Bob many times when I needed help with someone that I was working with. Without saying a name I would explain to Bob what help I needed and he always responded with a solution that was helpful. I will miss him as will the many families that he always was helpful with. May God comfort both you and your children and your other family and friends.
Love to you all,

Bob had a way of getting his point across with a smile and a tenderson that often made me roll my eyes and then, even if I disagreed, rule in his favor. Then he would walk by my office door and give me that wry smile while I shook my head. The last time I saw Bob epitomized him and the way he touched his families - it was an adoption of a little girl who had been the child of a client of his. The little girl ran into the courtroom and ran right up to hug "Bobby." What a guy!!! I will miss him terribly. Judge Mary Timko

May God give you peace in this difficult time. May the memories of Bob bring you comfort.
What a truly good guy he was. Always bringing a laugh with his humor or his actions, yet a very caring guy. While I hadn't seen Bob is some time. A surprise email from him on the evening of April 2 brought laughter and great memories...made me feel as if we had been in constant contact. I was so looking forward to seeing him this summer. Im sure no one called him Squat any more, but he will always be remembered as Squat by those of us who went to school with him. Great man, great friend. Just reading what others have said, I know that his life made a positive impact on everyone around him.
My heartfelt condolences to you all. Peace be with you, and RIP Squatty, my friend.

Julie and family - I am in absolute shock to hear about your husband. Julie, you are a light for so many people in this community and words cannot express the way you help people. Now is the time for all of those people that you have helped, to help you. Please lean on us now for support. We all love you and will do anything you need. I don't know why God decided he needed Bob right now, however I do know that He is a good God and He has a plan. You told me once that Bob came into your life and has been an amazing husband for you, and he will continue to look down from heaven on you, and forever be with you in your heart. All my love to you and your family.

Julie and Family:
Our hearts are broken. It has been a hard day for those of us who considered him a friend and part of our work family. He brightened our days with jokes and humor. When he was down we were down. He was a shoulder that we all leaned on and showed us all what a true team player was. We hated leaving Cherokee for Storm Lake and be separated from him......but he would stop in to check in on us....and share his latest joke. Our love to you and your family...We all know how special you all were to him and how much you enriched his life. Our hearts and prayers are with you always.

I will forever miss Bob! He was such a wonderful co-worker and friend. I will miss his sense of humor and how he treated everyone with such respect. I do not know how I will return to work without him. I will forever cherish everything he taught me. I am a better person because I had the amazing opportunity to work with Bob! I am so sorry for your loss. Every day, Bob talked about his family and his love for them. He always had such fun stories about his family and what you all did in the evenings and on weekends. I know he is watching down on you and so pround of all of you. Thank you for sharing him with us. I will forever miss him!
