Maralyn Jean Christensen the daughter of Ralph and Betty Viola, was born on November 21, 1950 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Council Bluffs, IA where she attended school and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1968, followed by a degree in Radiology from The Mercy School of Nursing.

On July 13, 1974, she was united in marriage to Robert Allen Christensen in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bob and Maralyn were blessed with three children, Matt Christensen, Melissa Leeds of Cherokee, and Melanie Graybill of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Maralyn worked in Radiology at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center for 37 years where she considered her colleagues family.

She enjoyed world travel, especially her trips to Italy and Europe. She enjoyed dancing, listening to live country concerts, cooking, power shopping, remodeling the house, playing cards, Cadillacs and diamonds, and Iowa State Sports. She loved to entertain family and friends with parties at the house, but loved spoiling her grandchildren the most.

She was preceded in death by her son, Matt Christensen, and her father Ralph Viola.

I am so sad to hear about Maralyn. She and I were friends in high school and I spent many days at her house off of North Broadway in Council Bluffs. We last communicated on Facebook about a year ago sharing work stories since I am an RN and catching up over several years. She was such a sweetheart of a woman. I will always remember her.

So very sorry for your loss. I worked at CRMC for 4 years but also knew Maralyn from visits to Radiology as a patient and care giver. I always looked forward to seeing her. When my husband was very ill, she was so kind and caring. I know she will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
