Born: January 3, 1961
Died: September 25, 2013
Age: 52
Marc Sarchet
January 3, 1961 - September 25, 2013
Marc Alan Sarchet was born January 3, 1961 in Burt, Iowa to Kenneth and Frances (Habeger) Sarchet. He was baptized and confirmed at Burt United Methodist Church.

Growing up, he attended school in Burt where he graduated from Burt High School in 1979. Following high school graduation, he attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, Iowa where he graduated with a degree in Ag Management.

On June 27, 1982, Marc was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Amy Roed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Burt. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Ally and Sara.

Marc farmed on the family farm outside Burt, Iowa for 13 years. In 1992, Marc, Amy and their family moved to Cherokee where Marc worked for Haselhoff Construction from that time until his death. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and joking with his coworkers.

Marc was a faithful member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee where he actively served on the Board of Trustees and had recently begun to sing with the choir.

Marc was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He cherished making memories with his family and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. Marc and Amy enjoyed traveling together and with family and friends. He was very musical, singing through the years with Amy, the Cherokee Community Theater and with several quartets formed from the Algona Cornbelt Barbershop Chorus. In his spare time, he loved to golf and cheer for the Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Marc passed away on September 25, 2013 at Creighton Medical Center due to injuries sustained in a tragic accident. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Frances Sarchet; grandparents; parents-in-law, Roy and Betty Roed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Amy Sarchet of Cherokee, Iowa; daughters: Ally Sarchet of Madison, Wisconsin; Sara (Jonathan) Schneider of Marcus, Iowa; grandchildren: Ella Mae and Isaac John; brother, Roger (Jean) Sarchet of Newell, Iowa; sisters: Rochelle (Chuck) Robinson of Burt, Iowa; Sharla (Mike) Coleson of Lehigh, Iowa; brothers-in-law: Bruce (Lisa) Roed of Baltimore, Maryland; Tom (Karen) Roed of Paullina, Iowa; sister-in-law, Jackie (Wayne) Breyfogle of Omaha, Nebraska; aunts and uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family and many friends.

Amy, Girls and Sarchet Family
Our hearts go out to each of you as you try and make sense as to why this has happened. Growing up attending Sunday School we learned that we never know when the Lord will take us. We always assume we will be old when it is our time. The Lord has his own plan which we will never understand no matter how hard you try. I would like to think he needed Marc's voice to join his beautiful choir. We are all praying that the Lord will ease your pain and keep you in His loving care in the days to come.
