With great regret, I stumbled upon Dana's obituary in the Storm Lake newspaper web site, a few moments ago. Dana and I worked together at CMHI. I moved to Houston in 1982. She visited me in Houston once, when she came to visit her sister, who was a Nanny at that time. I can't express the feeling of loss and sorrow that I feel right now.

No words can ever express how much I will miss my friend Dana! She was one of a kind and my life will never be the same without her. She touched so many people, and we are better because she was in our lives. God called his Angel home and the world has lost a great light without her presence. Until we meet again, I will miss you terribly, Dana.

Dana was a special woman to so many...the list just doesn't end. I was blessed to be one of her 'older sisters'. As I read the thoughtful & kind words written by so many, I am reminded of the girl/woman she had been her entire life, and the impact she had made in so many lives! Dana will be missed by all of us in the days ahead. I thank God for the 58 years I had her as my little sister. She is at peace in her eternal life...
Alan, Dad, Deb, Sheila, Karla, Krista & our nephews and nieces... I pray for God's peace that passes all understanding, for each of us, in the days ahead. May the many memories we carry in our hearts help to ease our grief in the days ahead.
Oh, what a difference Dana made in her short 58 years.
I love you & miss you Dana Faye!
Your sister, Rhonda

Dana has been a friend since we were little. Grew up in the same neighbor hood. Had so many fun times making grass houses after the lawn was mowed. Made chestnut necklaces, played kick the can. Many long talks. She gave me confidence and didn't care if we had nothing she was our friend. Hanging out when we did was the best parts of my childhood. Our neighbor hood had a lot of big families. When we reconnected later in life you did not change a bit. You were still taller than me:) Your silly brother in-law who would call her when he saw me and handing me the phone. Dana sharing her beautiful pictures of Washington and mine of here on face book. I so miss that. Someday we will meet again. God bless

My best friend, my soul mate sister, my rock, my confidant. Our childhood was wonderful together, from swim team to track and basketball. You excelled in everything...You were the best back stroker in swim team, the best high jumper in track, you still have the record, 5'3 back in 1973! You were the best star forward in Cherokee's basketball, averaging 40 points a game! You were unstoppable!
You were crowned Tomahawk queen your senior year and we all cried when they sang the song Lady...You were every syllable of that word and more...
When you and Al invited me to live out in Seattle with you, I was so excited! To be around you and explore the Northwest while working for the airline, was an exciting opportunity for me! You welcomed me and made me feel like part of your family instantly! We grieved the loss of our cats together, we bonded and shared so many fabulous times together...These were the best four years of my life and I will treasure our times forever...
Dana had more friends than anyone I have ever known! Most people count on one to two hands the number of people that they can count on to rely on for anything. Dana had hundreds of friends like this! Dana touched so many lives and we were all so fortunate to have been a part of hers...
Am so honored and blessed to have Dana as a sister for 58 years...Not too long ago, I told Dana that I had to be the first to go because I couldn't bear to live in a world without her. Now the unbearable truth to live with does not seem possible...
Thank you Dana for showing me the real meaning of unconditional love and true best friendship that I could ever ask for... An angel on earth, as in heaven, you were the finest lady to ever grace this earth...Love and miss you more every day my sister bear, forever and a day... baby bear Kris, your baby sis xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

My memories and stories of Dana are I'm sure that's true of everyone who spent time with her. When you would think about Dana, you couldn't help but smile because that's what she was always doing...smiling. She was the poster gal for cool, chill and laid back. My best memories are from the good ole basketball days. Dana was the tallest starter and I was the shortest starter. We liked to stand next to each was a funny, cool sight! She will be missed. My thoughts and energy are with the family.

My heartfelt sympathy. I'll never forget the day I met the girls basketball team of 74-75. I was in awe at their size(height) and wondering inside if I was going to be able to coach such talent. Dana and her senior classmates made my first varsity coaching a memorable experience. She was hard working, never complained, and always played like a winner. I'm so sorry the good Lord has taken such a good person at such a early age! she always had a great smile and I know she touched the lives of many-- me included!! Thanks Dana, god speed and got bless. Thanks for the memories, I will forever remember you.

Whenever I saw Dana when I came home to visit, she had her big smile to welcome me! Playing basketball in High School was the best with her! I remember going to the State Indoor Track meet with her when we were at the State BB Tourney...checking out the high jump... I know I was pretty much amazed at all the talent there. Dana touched many during her life in Cherokee, college, and Tacoma. We all have something to carry on from knowing her. As you remember Dana on Friday the 17th, I will be thinking of you all....knowing God had placed an Angel in our midst and has now called her home. God Bless you File and Kies families...Take care the "File Girls" you will always be........

I was so sad to hear about Dana. I can still hear her laughter and see her smile. My memories flood back to our days of basketball and softball. You would never find a more complete teammate than Dana. She always put others before herself and always had a smile on her face and a positive word for everyone.
Even when we were running those crazy wind sprints, Dana was always talking to her teammates, encouraging everyone on. For you, her family, I pray that God will walk with you through the days, weeks and months ahead. May God bless each one of you.

Dana's family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I was Dana's dorm resident advisor at Mankato and was told of her passing by another college friend, Doris. After Doris shared the news, I looked through photo albums and noticed that every picture I have of Dana as well as every photo taken in her dorm room was full of smiles. Huge ones. The cool thing is, that realization came as no surprise. Dana's sparkle and positive nature was how I always thought of her. Though I wish I could have been at the service today and see Dana's beloved Cherokee, I am know you were surrounded by friends and family who also loved Dana. My thoughts are with you during this bittersweet time of briefing Dana's loss and celebrating all she is and was to so many.

To Dana's family
My husband and I worked with Dana at MHI years ago. She was so great with the kids, very caring, very theraputic and somehow always patient. She was kind to everyone, whether at work, socially or over the years as she expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences for those who experienced loss themselves. I am sure her kind words were comforting to many families. So sorry to have lost such a thoughtful, caring person.
