I just read about Mr. Stevenson passing. Last Sept 32 from the class of 1965 gathered and we all had great memories of our teacher. I am so glad he was a part of my life.

My wife, Thalya (Durst) and I both had Bob as our first band instructor at Lake View (subsequently Lake View-Auburn). When picking out instruments in elementary, Bob told a slew of little girls 'everyone can't pick the flute'. Thalya held out for the flute. I was percussion - leading to immense pleasure playing bass drum in marching band for LV-A, Augustana College, and Iowa State, then being drum major for ISU. All those musical memories attributed to beginning with Bob's tutelage in elementary and early high school before he moved to Cherokee. Please accept our sympathy for Bob's passing.
