October 24, 1959 - November 24, 2017
Tracy Jo Gravenish, 58, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away on November 24, 2017

Born October 24, 1959 in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Rodney and Margaret (Roepke) Maffin. Tracy graduated in 1978 at Cherokee Washington High School. She was united in marriage to Duane Gravenish, September 25, 1981. Together they had four children. Tracy worked at Cherokee Mental Health Institute, Bills Bottles and Cans and at the local hotel.

Tracy is survived by three sons; Brady Gravenish and his wife Tessa, Lucas Gravenish and his wife Jennifer, Mitchell Gravenish, and a daughter, Katie Gravenish. Seven grandchildren; Gavin, Gabriel, Elyssa, Bella, Miles, Lane, and Charles. Two sisters; Jill Dushinske and husband John of Sandy, Utah, Linn Hayden and husband Mike from Ankeny, Iowa, and a brother, Dan Maffin of Seward, Nebraska, and many nieces and nephews. Tracy is preceded in death by her parents, Rodney and Margaret Maffin.

Tracy was a master cook in the kitchen, she did not need a recipe to make a bountiful masterpiece. She was loved by many and loved many in return. Tracy would help anyone with anything and she always had a smile on her face. Tracy had a fierce unconditional love for her children, you would be hard-pressed to find someone more proud of her children then she was. Tracy had a love for life, loved to be outside, and traveled a lot with her family and friends. Tracy was one in a million; a Mom, a grandma, a friend, and a second Mom to many. She will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Although I hadn’t seen Tracy for so very long, the memory of her bright spirit was with me often. I’ll always remember her smile and laughter when all the Maffin cousins would get together. Thank you Tracy for all the joy you brought to us all.

My deepest sympathy for the family. Tracy and I had a lot of good times, from basketball camp and playing basketball, to slumber parties and a brief time living together after high school. She was a beaming light to everyone that knew her! Tracy will be greatly missed, rest in paradise my friend, you have earned your wings...love you

well it was a sad day when Sherily Peterson called me in Indiana to tell me about Tracy passen away. I loved that lady, she was warm, full of joy, always smiling, except when yelling at one of her kids, Hey Brady get the dog, Hey Luke mow the yard, Hey Katie Joe pick up your bike, and Hey Mitch wake up! Yes I lived acrossed the East Cedar House, with my daughter RaShawne who is up there with Tracy showing her around. She'll never be missed because she's in our hearts. God Bless the Gravenish Family.

My heart is so heavy with sadness. Tracy was my buddy cousin. Some of my best memories of growing up are times spent at Uncle Rodney and Aunt Margarets house for the holidays. Tracy and I are close in age and we always spent our time playing together and causing mischief. My sincerest condolences for you and the family in her loss. Prayers for peace in your hearts and know that God has just received his special Tracy.

My sympathies to the family of Tracy Maffin-Gravenish during this difficult time. Some of my best memories of Tracy were during our middle school days when we went to confirmation classes together at Trinity Lutheran Church. We did endless youth events together and shared sleepovers at each other's home. I remember her contagious laugh and her endless energy....and of course that white/blonde hair. May she rest in peace and feel the heavenly joy of being 'soul to soul' with her parents again.
