Hilda Corzilius

 

Hilda Corzilius, 96, of Cherokee, Iowa died Monday April 21, 2008 at the Country Side Estates Nursing Home, Cherokee, Iowa following a brief illness.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday April 25, 2008 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate.  Burial will be in the Maryhill Visitation Cemetery, rural Cherokee, Iowa.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a 4:00 P.M. rosary and a 7:00 P.M. scripture service at the Greenwood Funeral Home.  Online Condolences may be left at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.

 

Hilda was born on December 6, 1911 in Cherokee, Iowa to John and Josephine (Hecket) Corzilius.  She attended school at Maryhill until the 8^th grade and then high school at Mount Saint Mary’s in Cherokee, graduating in 1928.  In 1935 she went to work for F.W. Woolworths in Cherokee and continued this job until 1970.  She moved to town in 1950 and cared for her parents until their death.  Hilda then worked for the Cherokee Clinic in the book keeping department from 1970 to 1991.  In 1974 she had the pleasure of traveling to Rome with the Maryhill Church.   In 1989, Hilda also vacationed to Hawaii.  She enjoyed knitting, playing cards, and going fishing.  She became a resident of the Country Side Estates in January of 2005. 

 

She is survived by a sister, Celestine Eischen, of Cherokee, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Leo and Kathy Eischen and their children, Megan and Edi, of Cherokee, IA; Casey and Janelle McKenzie and their children, Britton and Xavier, of Luverne, MN; Ralph and Barb Eischen and their children, Emily and Tyler, of Minneapolis, MN; Monica Eischen and Tony Moulton of Atlanta, GA; Mary and Scott Carnes and their children, Sarah and Katie, of Cherokee, IA; Louis and Margaret Corzilius of Cherokee, Iowa, and their children, Kristen and Jason Weiland and their children Kacie, Madison, and Cheyenne; Linda and Mike Mummert and their children Simon and Hanna; Ray and Robin Corzilius of Cherokee, Iowa, and their children, Rachel and Chris Ruskamp, Ronda and Joel Carver and their child Mason, Rose Corzilius and her daughter, Aneesa; Joyce and Phillip Rupp of Cherokee, Iowa and their children Lisa and Brad Buckman and their children Mark and Kaleb, Lori and Brandon Evans and their child Blake; and John Rupp.  

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Corzilius; a brother a, Edmund Corzilius and his wife, Agnes; a niece, Ruth Mckenzie.
