Mable Nehring

 

Mable Nehring, 87, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Monday March 31, 2008, at the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake, Iowa following a lengthy illness.

 

Services will be held Friday April 4, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.  Pastor Jamie Cutler will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery, Albert City, Iowa.  Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family present from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be sent to www.greenwoodfuneral.com.

 

Mable was born on March 26, 1921 in Peterson, Iowa to Franklin and Clara (Morgan) French.  She attended Peterson High School and graduated in 1939.  After her schooling she worked for Johnson Implement in Peterson as a bookkeeper.  On March 13, 1948 she married Lowell D. Nehring.  Mable then stayed home to raise her children.  She lived in Albert City for 18 years until her husband’s death on November 13, 1977.  She then moved to Le Mars and then to an assisted living facility in Storm Lake for six years.  She had been in the Methodist Manor for the last two years.  Mable enjoyed quilting and also needlepoint stitching.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Morris of Menasha, Wisconsin; Deborah Pitts and her husband, Tim, of Cleghorn, Iowa; a son, Dennis Nehring and his wife, Cindy, of Atlantic, Iowa;  grandchildren, Jennifer Vasseau and Jeremy Vasseau of Menasha, Wisconsin; Lori Morris of Walnut, Iowa; Gregory Nehring of Glidden, Iowa; Jeffrey Nehring and his wife, Kris, of Carroll, Iowa; David Pitts and his wife, Amber, of Meriden, Iowa; Daniel Pitts and his wife, Audrey, of Cherokee, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Trent, Justin, Coleton, Rylee, Tyler, Katlyn, Joseph, , Riley, Alexis, and Coby; a sister-in-law, Audrey Miller of Storm Lake, Iowa.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell; her parents, Frank and Clara French; a sister, Ester Stark; a brother, Ralph French; a grandchild, Steven Michael Morris.
