Paul Richard Goeb

 

Paul R. Goeb, 89, of Cherokee, Iowa, died suddenly Sunday November 4, 2007, at his home at the Beck.

 

Memorial services will be Thursday at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Iowa.  Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate.  Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa., A scripture service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Paul was born on November 4, 1918 in Cherokee, Iowa to Carl and Anna (Peters) Goeb.  He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and graduated from High School in 1935.  After high school he went on to attend the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 1939.  Paul was a WWII veteran serving from May 20, 1942 until November 3, 1945.  On November 26, 1942 Paul married Irene Paulson in Cherokee, Iowa.  Paul was the owner of the Cherokee Creamery and later worked at Wilson Foods as an accountant for 20 years.

 

Paul was a long time member of the Cherokee Country Club.  He acted in the community theatre and was also supporter of the Cherokee Symphony and the Sanford Museum.  Paul also served on city council at one time.  He was very active at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  He served on parish council and was also the choir director in the past.

 

Paul is survived by four daughters, Andrea Dailey and her husband, Dan, of Monmouth, Or., Kathryn Patterson and her husband, Kenneth, of Cherokee, Ia., Pamela Jordan and her husband, Michael, of Spirit Lake, Ia., Connie Cuttell and her husband, Joe, of Palos Verdes, Ca.; two sons, Richard Goeb and his wife, Suzanne, of Danville, Ca., Christopher Goeb and his wife, Lou Ann, of Sheldon, Ia.; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister, Marilou Goeb, of New York City.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irene (2005), one brother Roger Goeb (1995), and one grandson Johnathan Patterson (1972).
