Ruth E. Streeter

 

Ruth E. Streeter, 90, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, died Sunday March 2, 2008 in the Heartland Care Center, Marcus, Iowa following an extended illness.

 

Services will be held Wednesday March 5, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Iowa.  Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate.  Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a scripture service at 7:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa.  Online condolences may be sent to www.greenwoodfuneral.com.

 

Ruth was born January 27, 1918 in Cherokee, Iowa to Brian and Mary (King) Flanigan.

She attended school in Cherokee, Iowa, graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in 1936.  On May 8, 1937 she married Marius M. “Stub” Streeter in Cherokee, Iowa.  He preceded her in death April 5, 2000.  Ruth worked for the Dinner Bell Café in Cherokee, Iowa for many years.  Ruth enjoyed her family, baking, cooking and sewing.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Marilee Strenge, and her husband, Daryl, of Melvin, Iowa; son, Gene Streeter, and his wife, Robin, of Cherokee, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Susan Streeter, of Turlock, California; sister, Hazel Rupp, of Marcus, Iowa; brothers, Earl Flanigan, of Aurelia, Iowa and Harold Flanigan, of St. Paul, Minnesota; grandchildren, Steve Strenge, Mike Strenge, Karen Preusser, Matthew Strenge, Heather Westphal, Holly Streeter-Schaefer, Heidi Conley, Debbie Streeter, Jennifer Carter, Ryan Streeter, Megan Anderson.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dr. Michael Streeter.
