Rita Rae Morgan

Rita Rae (Thomas) Morgan was born on January 30, 1948 to George Frederick and Pearl Mae (Sorensen) Thomas in Sheldon, IA. When Rita was three the family moved to Paullina, Iowa where Rita attended Paullina High School. During Rita's youth she attended the First Presbyterian Church where she was confirmed. Rita was also a member of the Unionette 4-H Club for eight years, holding many offices local and county. After school, Rita moved to Florida where she worked on the fishing docks, then Michigan working in manufacturing. Rita returned to Iowa in 1984 and started her career at Tyson Foods in Cherokee where she was employed for 25 years. Rita was united in marriage to Kenneth Morgan on March 18, 1989, at the United Methodist Church in Sutherland, Iowa. Rita loved to bowl, play cards, fish, crochet, and being with family and friends. On April 3, 2011, Rita passed away at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN at the age of 63. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frederick George in infancy, her parents, George and Pearl Thomas, a grand niece, Desiree Crist, brothers-in-law, Bill Peters and Terry Leth, and James Morgan; father-in-law, Cecil Morgan; and niece, Kristi Freeman. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenneth Morgan of Cherokee; five brothers: Donald Thomas of Cherokee, IA, Jerry and Jan Thomas of Kanawha, IA, Kirt and Debbie Thomas of Prior Lake, MN Richard and Cindy Thomas of Sioux Rapids, IA, and Ronald and Pat Thomas of Spirit Lake, IA; Three sisters: Liz Peters of Sutherland, IA, Pam Leth of Hartley, IA and Alicia and Jessie Crouch of May City, IA; mother-in-law, Marion Morgan; brothers-in-law, Charles Rodney(Laura); sisters-in-law, Judy Freeman and Kathy Morgan; nieces, Mary and Amy; nephews, Josh, Jerry (Jen), Brad (Shawna), Hunter and Brady.
