Michael Everett Olhausen

Michael Everett Olhausen, the son of Keith and Norma (Klingborg) Olhausen, was born October 23, 1952, in Colorado Springs, CO. His childhood years were spent in Cherokee, IA, where he graduated from Washington High School in 1972. He married Molly Hyndman on May 25, 1973, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. During his working years, Mike was involved in public transportation. He was a bus driver for the Cherokee schools for many years, and drove truck for both Hy-Vee and Ruan Trucking. He enjoyed fishing, sports of any kind, and collecting baseball cards. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Mike endured numerous health challenges in his life--he was released from those burdens when he passed away at the Careage Hills Nursing Home in Cherokee on March 29, 2015, at age 62. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oscar and Evelyn Klingborg and Everett and Mona Olhausen, his wife's parents, Mac and Dorothy Hyndman, and his sister, Natasha Olhausen. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Molly; a daughter, Natalie Olhausen, of Cherokee; son Nick and Mary Olhausen and their children Lauren and Emily of Dakota Dunes, SD; his parents, Keith and Norma Olhausen, of Cherokee; sister, Michelle (Brian) Henley of Aurelia, IA; sister-in-law, Nancy (Rick) Nelson of Marcus, IA; brother-in-law, Matt (Cindy) Hyndman of Sioux City, IA; nephews, Chad Nelson and Shawn Henley; nieces, Megan Nelson, Annamarie Hyndman and Muriel Hyndman; other relatives and many friends.
