In Memory of
Boyd 'Bud' Perrin
Boyd 'Bud' Joseph Perrin was born March 26, 1930 in Cherokee, IA, the son of Mary C. (Goodwin) and Delbert D. Perrin. He attended I.C. Catholic School until the 9th grade, and graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee in 1949. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951, serving during the Korean War as an Aviation Machinist's mate, traveling all throughout the Pacific.
Bud met his life partner, Barbara Johnson, in 1980, and the two married in 1993. He was co-owner/operator of the Perrin Fur Farm, along with his brothers, Jack and Chuck. He loved being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing or golfing. He also enjoyed snow skiing, and just about any sport that took place in the ocean. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Bud and Barb did a lot of traveling through the years. He just wasn't happy unless he had at least three or four trips in the works. His greatest passion was flying, and he logged in over 3000 hours. He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. Life, to Bud, was one big adventure, and he lived his to the fullest.
Bud passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at age 85.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, 'Junebug' (Delbert), Dana and Jack; a sister, Rosemary Roepke; sisters-in-law, Joyce Perrin, Rita Perrin, Lavonne 'Tootie' Perrin and Lanna Brown; brothers-in-law, Bob McGowan, Wayne Roepke, Larry Johnson and Mike Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Barb; step-children: Melinda (Kenneth) Thompson of Sugarland, TX, Lance Mongan of Holstein, IA, Kellie (Mike) Lunning of Vermillion, SD; one brother, Chuck (Dorothy) Perrin of Cherokee, IA; two sisters, Mary Fran Gates of Boynton Beach, FL, and Kathi McGowan of Destin, FL; three sisters-in-law, June Perrin of Cherokee, IA, Linda (Greg) Menke of Primghar, IA, and Genie Martin of Cherokee, IA; his grandchildren, Emma and Hanna Lunning and James Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews; the Wise and Phipps families who were like Bud's second "adopted" families; other relatives and friends.
