“We really wish we had just gotten in the car & come up for Bill's funeral. Bill and Donna are so very special to us and our hearts go out to the whole family. Bill had that spirit that made you feel special just being around him - and Donna too.
My folks loved and adored him & so did Lucy & Glenn. They all talked of the fun they shared. I know I was always laughing when around them. I haven't seen the kids in years, but have always asked about them & now feel so sad they lost their special dad. I will try to scan some old photos to share.
Our prayers to all of you.”

“We are so sad not that we didn't get in the car & get up there for the funeral. Bill was absolutely the best. He had a spirit about him that made you be a better person for just being with him. And Donna, you too. Anytime with you guys was warm and special, and we were of course always laughing. You meant the world to my folks and Lucy and Glenn too. I will try to scan some photos. I'm so sorry to you kids too - haven't seen you in years, but always ask about you and hope you're doing well. With those folks, we know you had a great childhood. We've got us a new angel now!”

Sending you and your family my condolences. Growing up and attending mass at I.C. Parish and sitting behind you and Bill on most Saturdays and/or Sundays I remember thinking how happy and in love you and Bill always were. Even at a young age I remember thinking that you two must have married later in life because surely you wouldn't still be this happy with each other! When I found out that you two had been together for many many years I remember being in awe of your love for one another. You two, and the love that you shared over the years is a great example of the unconditional love that God has for us and the love he wishes for us to share with all of our neighbors. Thank you for being such a great example. Thinking and praying for you and your family!”

“Dearest Donna and Family,
Please be assured of my warm thought and prayers as you celebrate this new life in Christ on Saturday. I have so many fond memories of Bill during my time as pastor in Cherokee which I will cherish always. It was my prayer that I would be able to celebrate his life with you at the funeral, but unfortunately my pastoral duty here with two weddings this weekend will prevent my being able to walk with you on this part of life's journey. This morning at Mass I included Bill and all of you in our intercessions and my good people here prayed for the repose of his soul. - I ask God's blessing for you Donna as you bid farewell to your best friend and my friend of many years.
May he rest in the peace of the kingdom of God.
Fr. Armand J. Bertrand”

“Donna and family,
What a wonderful, kind, hard-working, loving man. I am so glad I got to know Bill from working with him at I. C. Bill always amazed us with how fit he was and how he always worked so hard to keep things nice at our parish. I will miss his smile, his chuckle and the stories he'd tell. I will miss hearing his golf balls 'thwack' off the pad in the gym during the winter. I have always admired the great love and devotion Bill and Donna have had to each other. What a model of marriage for all to follow! Bill will be missed by so many, but I know the course is green and inviting up there, and there's many an old friend to catch up with!”
