“I am very sorry to learn of your mother's death. She was a very special friend to my mother (Betty Simonsen). When I was a kid growing up, my parents often mentioned Mel and Margie Dorr. As a kid, they were just people my parents knew. But as I got older, and my parents still mentioned them, I came to know what special friends they were. Whenever my Mom would mention teaching in Marcus with the 'other ladies' her face would always light up. Years later, when my mother was at the Villa Care Center in Cherokee, and your mother was writing a column for the Cherokee newspaper, a volunteer would read the columns to my Mom. She really enjoyed hearing what your mother wrote, and would ask for the columns to be read again. It was unfortunate that your mother stopped writing after she moved. My Mom missed her. I wish I had known your mother better, but just knowing she was a special friend to my mother makes her special also. My sympathies to all of the Dorr Family for your loss. ”

“Sorry to hear about the death of Margaret. I'm Craig Peterson, Gwen Reed Peterson's son. I'm sure that my mom was a classmate of Margarets in Rinard. In fact I was going through some of mom's old pictures and am sure that some are of Margaret, but mom's memory is fading. Mom always would talk about Margaret and the fun times they had.”

“Dear Family of Margaret Dorr,
I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when your mother arranged a pen pal for me in Germany many years ago and when she wrote a column for the Marcus News. It seems like another world when we all lived in Marcus, and attended school there, and were members of Peace Lutheran Church. Please accept my condolences. Linda Hansen Kahler (daughter of Ray and Peg)”

“Dorr family: Although I have not been in Marcus for a number of years, I had the privilege of meeting Margaret when I had Kurt as a student of mine back in the 1970's. Kurt, you remember as we have spoken a few years back, but your mom was always so nice to me when I would voice any concerns I might have about Kurt. I also know that the entire family was quite a presence in Marcus and have left an indelible mark because of your mom and dad. Know that I am thinking of you and yours during this difficult time--losing a mother is always hard. Bless you and know I have prayers going your way. Karon
