Joseph "Joe" Wiemold, the son of Frank and Anna (Rupp) Wiemold, was born on April 17, 1919 in Cherokee County, IA. He was raised and educated in the Maryhill area. He later served his country in the Air Force for four years before being honorably discharged in 1945.
On September 20, 1949, Joe was united in marriage to Mary Louise Lux at the Visitation Church at Maryhill. The couple settled on a farm in the Cherokee area and raised their family. Joe retired from farming in 1995, but enjoyed helping during the busy times. Traveling to Europe and Alaska were highlights of his retirement years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Knights of Columbus, and was a former member of the Maryhill Church council. He treasured his faith, family, and friends.
Joe passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at the Cherokee Villa in Cherokee, IA, at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, in 1960; mother, Anna in 1980; two brothers, Edward in 2014 and Charles in infancy.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise, daughter, Carolyn (Ron) Pudenz of Pocahontas, IA, two sons, John (Connie) Wiemold and Charles (Ronda) Wiemold, all of Cherokee; his grandchildren, Adam Wiemold of Ft. Collins, CO, Megan (Jason Pigott) of Cherokee, Gregory Pudenz of Minneapolis, MN, Joseph (Cassandra) Pudenz of Waukee, IA, Anne Pudenz of Coon Rapids, Jeffrey Wiemold of Ames, Whitney Wiemold of Cherokee; great-grandchildren, Will and Clara Pigott; other extended family and friends.
10:30 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5th at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee. The family will be present from 5:00 until 7:00. A prayer service will be held at 7:00, and a Knights of Columbus Rosary will follow at 7:30 p.m.
