Helen Monica Thompson Struck, daughter of Alice and James Thompson was born on May 19, 1915 in Ayrshire, Iowa. She attended Aryshire Sacred Heart School before her folks moved to a farm near Webb, Iowa. She finished her education at Garfield Township School, graduating in 1933. She was employed at O'Brien's Grocery store previous to her marriage to Raymond Leroy Struck on September 1, 1937. Their first home was at the Struck farm by Webb, in a home built by Raymond's dad. Five daughters and five sons soon followed. During their married years they lived in 10 different homes, four different towns, ending up in Cherokee in 1964, where Helen resided until her death. Piano playing was another of her loves and favorite pastimes and one of her joys of life. Her love for cooking and baking will always be remembered by all who knew her, especially the IC school students, family and friends, who especially were delighted with her homemade bread, buns and cinnamon rolls. We surely would have been there for your support. There are so many great memories of the old neighbor hood as well the days at St Mary's. “We wish you our most heartfelt condolences. I think of the time your family spent in Storm Lake so often. Her home was always open to so many friends of her children. I doubt that any home in the area had more friends of her children enjoying her open arms to all. Helen was a very special woman. You have every right to feel proud to call her MOM!!

“Helen shared her friendship with me and my sister many years ago while we were all living in Storm Lake. Even though she had many children of her own, she would happily take others into her life and treat them like one of her own. We seen her as the kind woman she was and how over her years of life how she shared herself with many. We valued her friendship with us! Now she is sharing this friendship with another, one she has loved for many years and now is sharing it in person in His home, her Savior. ”
