“We wanted to express our deepest sympathies to you all. We so enjoyed Art and I had the opportunity to work with him in Physical Therapy at Careage Hills and then again was able to visit with him many different times at the Gardens. My Grandparents are Bill and Evalyn Pease who also live in the Gardens and who so enjoyed sitting and visiting with Art and Mable everyday at mealtime. Art was one-of-a-kind;such a great man and will be missed by so many in Cherokee. My kids also enjoyed visiting with him and miss seeing him on the computer in the living room at the Gardens, and will so miss his smile! God Bless you all, Karmen and James Hodgdon

“Please accept my deepest sympathy at the passing of Art to all of you. Art was an integral part of many of our family's touchpoints. I remember over forty years ago when Art, and I think, Kermit, came to our home to talk my dad, Ted Johnson, to the hospital because dad had the first heart attack that I was aware of.

When my dad passed away in 1977, when mom and I arrived at the hospital in Sioux City, Art and Mable were already there. They provided a great deal of comfort and strength to us during that time. My mom, Bernice Johnson, always looked forward to the opportunity during the later years of her life when ARt would stop by the house, lately on his scooter and looked forward to my coming home to visit her so that I could take her to the Beck, Carriage Hills and the Gardens to visit with ARt and Mable. I have no doubt that Art is now in heaven because of all of his angelic acts while with us. May you all realize God's comfort and know that our prayer and thoughts are with you from Naperville.”

“Dear Mabel and the Tolzin Family -

I was so sorry to hear of Art's death. He was such a wonderful guy who never let the fact that he only had one leg get in the way. I would hate to think of everything he would have done if he had two legs. He was always so wonderful about checking on Mom and it gave us comfort knowing that he was calling her every morning. Art certainly had a full life and had to leave you with great memories that will now provide you comfort. You have our deepest sympathies and please know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers. God bless.”
