What To Do When Someone Dies.
Acknowledge Your Loss
When a loved one dies, it can be one of the most difficult and trying times a person has to go through. Give yourself, your family and friends adequate time to experience and acknowledge your loss. Call your minister, family members, or friends to be with you during the first few hours immediately after the death.
Contact Your Funeral Home
As soon as possible, call your funeral home. We can help answer any questions that you may have, provide guidance to your family, and arrange for transportation of your loved one to our funeral home. The professional staff at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home are available day or night to assist your family. Call us at (712)-225-4886.
If death occurs away from home or out-of-state
If a death occurs while you are out of town, when you are wintering out of the area, traveling, or using medical facilities at a distant location, please call us first. Generally, we can make the necessary arrangements for you more efficiently and at a lower cost to you. We also make the transportation arrangements for the return back to Cherokee. Additionally, we are available for purchasing flowers, and arranging motel accommodations for your out of town guests.
Schedule an Arrangement Conference
When death occurs, your family will need to make a lot of very personal decisions. We encourage you to schedule an arrangement conference as soon as possible. Our staff will answer your questions, offer guidence, and help you plan a meaningful funeral.
