Ambrose John Klein

Ambrose, the son of William and Clara (Hoffman) Klein, was born December 6, 1930 in Hospers, Iowa. He attended St. Anthony's Catholic School in Hospers. Ambrose joined the US Army in 1952 during the Korean Conflict. On September 12, 1955, he was united in marriage to Blanche Riedmiller in Hospers, Iowa. The couple farmed in Sanborn, Iowa until 1965 and in 1969 moved to Cherokee, Iowa where Ambrose was employed with Lundell Construction as a pipe layer until his retirement in 1995. Ambrose was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the V.F.W. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports on television, especially football, and getting together with his siblings. Ambrose passed away at the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Iowa where he had been a resident since May of 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Klein (2007); parents; a daughter, Peggy Klein (1964); a sister, Mildred Goebel and her husband Linus; and brother-in-laws, George Wolbers and Virgil Riedmiller. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Klein of Storm Lake, Iowa and Philip Klein and his wife, Janeene, of Remsen, Iowa; two daughters, Jean Smith of Des Moines, Iowa and Lisa Johnson and her husband, Richard, of Spencer, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Vorthems and her husband, Leo, of Westbrook, Minnesota, and Germaine McCoy and her husband, Bob, of Mountain Home, Idaho; brothers, Vincent Klein and his wife, Marilyn, of Hospers, Iowa, Oscar Klein and his wife, Marie, of Alton, Iowa, Norbert Klein and his wife, Joan of Sanborn, Iowa, and Arthur Klein of Ames, Iowa; sister-in-law, Dolores Wolbers of Denver, Colorado; brother-in-law, Tom Riedmiller and his wife, Lynn, of Randolph, Nebraska.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Remsen St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. Wednesday with the family present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday night at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Marcus. There will be a scripture prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
