Ardis Kate Baker

Ardis Kate Baker, the daughter of Peter and Teresa (Ortner) Wolterman, was born September 7, 1930, in Danbury, IA. It is there that she received her education and graduated from Danbury St. Patrick's High School. On September 1, 1951 Ardis was united in marriage to Willard Baker in Danbury. To this union 9 children were born. Following their marriage they farmed until 1970. Ardis also worked outside the home at Aalfs and Country Side Estates until her retirement. Ardis had a very active retirement belonging to the Legion Auxillary, playing card and drinking coffee with friends, and ballroom dancing. Most of all, Ardis enjoyed being around her family and friends. On November 1, 2011, Ardis passed away at the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen, IA at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter J. and Teresa Wolterman; one brother, Marcellus Wolterman; sisters: Ethel Kohler, Leota Schreiber, Vera Peterson, and Lois Uhl; one daughter, Sandra Baker, and her husband, Willard Baker in 1994. She is survived by her children: Patsy and Steve Reinert of Cherokee, IA, Mike Baker and Diana Fetty of South Point, OH, Maureen Glassmaker and Todd Neustrom of Larrabee, IA, Candice and Howard Yardley of Riverside, CA, Rhonda and Dan Gates of Marcus, IA, Judy and Terry Klein of Sheldon, IA, Billie Baker of Cambridge, MN, and Matt and Sarah Baker of Cincinnati, OH; sisters: Kathleen Kinsella of Estherville, IA and Kay Ehrhorn of Chicago, IL; one brother, Peter and Lois Wolterman of Danbury; 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
