Bernadine Marie Riggs

Bernadine Marie Riggs, the daughter of Louis and Clara (Smith) Rogers, was born May 3, 1943, in Sioux City, IA. Her childhood years were spend in Sioux City, where she attended school and graduated from Central High School in 1960.

 

On August 27, 1961, she was united in marriage to Ralph Riggs. They resided in Sioux City, where she worked for Zenith and IBP. They later move to Le Mars, IA, where she worked at Midtown. In 1985, they moved to Washta, IA, and they owned and operated the Winner’s Circle Bar and she ran daycare for her grandchildren.

 

Bernadine enjoyed Bingo, stock car races, and watching football, especially the Minnesota Vikings. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

 

On February 28, 2023, Bernadine passed away at her daughter’s house at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Clara Rogers, two grandsons, Ricky and Steven; and one brother, Bob Rogers.

 

She will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Ralph “Chopper” Riggs, of Washta, IA; children, Terri Smith of Pierson, IA, Missy (Chuck) Myers of Quimby, IA, John (Patti) Riggs of Cherokee, IA, and Tammy Boock and her significant other, Mickey Conrad of Ida Grove, IA. She is also survived by many grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
