Beryl Elmer Schubert, the son of Reuben and Dellav (Morrice) Schubert, was born on October 3, 1925, on a farm near Battle Creek, IA. His childhood years were spent on the farm where he attended country school and a graduate of Ida Grove High School in 1943.  On August 28, 1949, he was united in marriage to Romona Shaffer in Storm Lake, IA. Beryl continued to farm and in 1953, moved to a farm in Silver Creek Township. Beryl enjoyed farming and over the years he raised cattle, pigs, and chickens. He also served as the president and board member of the COOP, and the Ida County Assessment Board.

Beryl was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. He enjoyed golfing, traveling with Romona, visiting the coffee shop, and attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
