Betty A. Moser

September 2, 1933 — May 15, 2015

Betty (Elizabeth Ann) (Alesch) Moser, the oldest of seven children, was born September 2, 1933, to Raymond and Mathilda (Schilmoeller) Alesch on the Alesch family farm near Marcus, Iowa. The family lived near Oyens, Iowa, and Betty attended Public School in Marcus and St. Catherine's Grade School in Oyens. In 1945, the family moved to a farm near Remsen, Iowa, and she received the remainder of her schooling at St. Mary's Catholic School, graduating with the class of 1951. She attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa for one year, and then worked as a secretary in Sioux City until 1957. On June 15, 1957, Betty married Dennis Moser at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. They made their home on a farm near Danbury, Iowa. In 1970, they had the opportunity to return to the Alesch family farm where Betty was born. They retired and moved into Marcus in September of 1994. They spent winter months in Mesa, Arizona from 1998 through 2012. Betty was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild, and Birthday Club, as well as the 500 Card Club, Red Hats, and the Marcus Historical Society. She loved life, and enjoyed staying active in her church and community. Betty especially enjoyed the company of her grandchildren. She was always thinking of others and was known for taking in anyone in need of a hot meal or her famous bread pudding. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dennis in 2012, and an infant son, Dennis Raymond in 1959. Survivors include her children and their families: Kim Moser of Omaha, NE, Jerry and Linda Moser, and Jody and Jeff Holmes, all of Marcus; her grandchildren: Mike Holmes, Tim Holmes, Jackie Holmes, Brock Moser, Haley Moser and Emily Moser; four sisters, Marlene (Paul) Pick of Remsen, Jacquie (Jim) O'Connor of Valley, NE, Kay (Bob) Johnson, and Claudia (Steve) Larsen both of Omaha, NE; two brothers, Ken (Marietta) Alesch of Remsen and Paul (Jane) Alesch of Lake View, IA; her in-laws, Gene (Mary) Moser, Katie Moser and Ellen Weber, all of Danbury, IA, and Loren (Bev) Moser of La Mesa, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
