Caleb Goodburn

Caleb Allen Goodburn, the son of Robert and Susan (Combs) Goodburn, was born in Sioux City, Iowa on October 2, 1985. His childhood years were spent mostly in the Marcus, IA area, where he attended school. He was active in sports, excelling in both football and wrestling. Caleb enlisted in the Army National Guard during his junior year in high school. He graduated with the MMC class of 2004. During 2005-2006 he was deployed to Iraq. He later went to work for Wetherell Mfg. in Cleghorn as a machinist-a position he held until the time of his death. He passed away as the result of a brain aneurysm on February 19, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA, having reached the age of 27 years, 4 months, 17 days. It was Caleb's wish to give new hope to others through the life-giving gift of organ donation. Caleb will be remembered as a soft-hearted individual and a faithful, loyal friend. Family was very important to him-especially spending time with his daughter, Haley. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Elmer Goodburn, maternal grandmother Bobbie Combs, a sister, Courtney, and cousins Sarah Schmitz, Kenzie Combs and Catherine Lafferty. Survivors include his daughter Haley Olson, his parents Bob and Susan Goodburn of Marcus; six brothers, Tony, Brian, Alex and his wife Amanda and their daughter Emily, Joey, David and Thien; one sister Rachael and her children, Elizabeth, Gracie, Avi, Jerry and Zach; his grandmother, Betty Goodburn and grandfather, Jack Combs; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS a memorial fund has been established in Caleb's name at Farmer's State Bank in Marcus. Thank you.
