David James Hancock, 59, of Humboldt, Iowa went to be with his Loving Savior on May 24, 2021.
David was born in Albuquerque, NM on February 7, 1962, to James and Carrie Lou Hancock. He was a rambunctious boy who committed his life to Christ at age 17 at the Bill Rice Ranch when he responded to the call to ask Jesus to be his Savior and Lord. As David said, “He took out my heart of stone and gave me a heart of flesh that loved Him completely.” After college, he followed God’s call to move to Cherokee, Iowa where he met a special young lady, Dawn Jones, who soon became his wife. He worked for the Cherokee Mental Health Institute for 15 years and then spent another 15 years working for the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility. He spent his time serving God whether at home, work, or church talking about His love for Jesus and our need for him. David was a wonderful husband and father and brought so much joy and fun to his family and friends. He usually kept everyone entertained with his funny stories and made people feel welcome. His passion was spending time with family and friends, and he loved traveling like a gypsy to visit all his kids and grandkids. His most recent desire was to glorify God whether he was healed or died from cancer. Three days before passing into glory, he quoted Philippians 1:21, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” He lived his life fully for Jesus Christ and left behind a vibrant testimony and legacy.
