Donna Lou Anderson

November 13, 1927 — July 21, 2020

Donna Lou Eischen, daughter of Franklin and Marie (Schiltz) Eischen was born November 13, 1927 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee, IA. She completed high school at the Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Cherokee where she boarded with the Christina Hyndman family. She went on to St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA.

On April 23, 1947, Donna married the love of her life, Lawrence Anderson, and their legacy of faith, family, and farming began. The couple raised six children; Patricia Estes of Sioux Center, IA, Katherine (Dick) Mazoyer of Charlotte, NC, Jacquelyn (Tom) Bleil of Hornick, IA, Ronald (Dian) Anderson of Aurelia, IA, Randall (Deborah) Anderson of Cherokee, IA, and Angela (Harry) Endrulat of Lincoln, NE. In turn, the couple has been blessed with 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, and the Anderson crew continues to grow.

Donna enjoyed traveling, cards, winning at slots, playing on her iPad, hosting parties, dancing, being with friends, dessert and making memories with her children and grandchildren. She also loved any and all sporting events and both family and friends acknowledge the Green Bay Packers and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame have lost one of their biggest fans.

Donna will be remembered for her kind heart, contagious laugh, bright smile, homemade brown bread and homemade ice cream, jean shorts and tennis shoes, service to community, quick wit and work ethic.

Donna returns home to the Lord to be with missed family and friends and get another spin on the dance floor with her much missed husband, Lawrence, who preceded her in death in 2012 after 65 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death are her parents, Frank and Marie Eischen, sister-in-law and her husband Ruby and Lowell Gano, sister-in-law, Marilyn Anderson, son-in-law Dr. Bill Estes, and granddaughter Hanna Marie Lageschulte.

Left to cherish many memories are her children, her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Marilyn Eischen of Detroit; brother-in-law, Leland Anderson of Aurelia, and many nieces and nephews.
