October 8, 1927 — April 23, 2013

Dorothy A. Jenness, the daughter of Clayton and Bessie (Ballard) Bugh, was born October 8, 1927, in Cherokee, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Cherokee, where she attended school and graduated from Wilson High School. On August 2, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Buster B. Jenness at Storm Lake, IA. Throughout the years, they lived and farmed near the communities of Marcus, Remsen, Larrabee, and Peterson. In 1979, they moved to Cherokee. Dorothy drove the Head Start bus for several years and worked at the MHI in Cherokee for 18 years until her retirement. Dorothy was active in the Cherokee community. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Larrabee Birthday Club, Women's Card Club, and volunteered for many groups and organizations over the years. She enjoyed bowling, attending auto races, watching her grandchildren's sporting events, and growing flowers and cherry tomatoes. Most of all, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly knew her as 'Gram J' and 'Yoo Hoo'. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Jenness on January 25, 2007; mother, Bessie Bugh, and father Clayton Bugh and his wife Louise; two sisters: Alice Bevins and Marion Vanatta; and two brothers, Kenneth and Jim Bugh.
