Edward E. Rasch

Edward "Ed" Eugene Rasch, son of Frederick and Jessica (Faye) Rasch, was born on May 10, 1939 in Racine, Wisconsin. He attended school in Racine, WI and graduated college from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He entered the United States Army in 1957 where he served four years. On April 28, 1973, Edward was united in marriage to Margaret (Peggy) Sue Fish in Chicago, IL. To this union, a daughter, Margaret was born. Ed and Peggy owned three convenience stores before moving to Panora, Iowa where they owned and operated a grocery store for many years. Following their retirement they briefly owned a few Laundromats near Des Moines, IA. In 2000, Ed and Peggy moved to Cherokee when they purchased the Dairy Queen in both Cherokee and Storm Lake. Ed spent his years as an entrepreneur and enjoyed working. He was still employed at the time of his passing. Ed enjoyed playing golf, searching for golf balls, and planting trees on his acreage. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren. On March 2, 2012, Ed passed away unexpectedly at his home in Cherokee, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Jessica Rash. Edward is survived by his wife of 38 years, Peggy; his daughter Margaret Wilson of Carroll; his three grandchildren, Matthew, Zachery and Christian, other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee.
