I, Emmet John Wolf, passed away on October 17, 2023 at age of 96 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, IA. I spent my final moments peacefully while holding the hands of my Grandchildren.

I was born April 30th, 1927 on a farm south of Remsen, to Anna (Konz) Wolf and Cornelius Wolf. I graduated from Remsen St. Mary’s High School in 1945. Then I attended Loras College for one Semester before I returned home to the family farm. In 1951, I took my shorthorn steer Comando to the National Western Livestock Show, in Denver Colorado, and won. I was very Involved in 4H, in Cherokee county, and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002 after 60 years of service.

While showing cattle, I was set up on a blind date with Mary Lu (Schrank) Wolf, who became the love of my life. On June 26th, 1951 we married at St Mary’s in Danberry, Iowa. We lived in Remsen for 1 year, then moved to Cleghorn, Iowa to Farm. I was dedicated to my farm and raising livestock for 80 years.

I enjoyed being involved in the community, especially with the Holy Name Catholic Church. I taught religion classes for many years and was involved with the Knights of Columbus. Teaching the importance of God to those in the community was important to me as I attended over 4000 services and masses throughout my long life.

My Five sisters: Dorothy (Wolf) Kunkel in Remsen Iowa. Delores (Wolf) Bohlke in Le Mars, Iowa. Carol Jean (Wolf) Harris in Omaha, Nebraska. Jeanette (Wolf) Goodwin in Lincoln, Nebraska. My Brother Alvin Wolf and his wife Mary (Bachmann) Wolf. And my Sister-in-law: Norma (Donaldson) (Shrank) Railsback.

I am so thankful to God to have my mind sharp as a tack, up to my last breath. Books were balanced, I’s DOTTED and T’s CROSSED.

In Lieu of flowers, I request that memorials be made the Cherokee 4H Extension, the Cherokee Cattleman, or Holy Name Catholic Church.

I also want to give a special thanks to Heartland Care Center in Marcus and CRMC Hospice, especially Nurse Shelby. Even though my stay was short, they took wonderful care of me in my final time.
