Gary Wilchester

July 15, 1970 — October 18, 2016

Gary Alan Wilchester, the son of Jay and Irene Wilchester, was born in San Diego, CA. His early childhood years were spent in California, where he attended school. He moved to Cherokee, IA, in 1986. He worked road construction for a short time, and spent the next 19 years working for Tyson Foods. After the Tyson plant closed, Gary attended Western Iowa Tech and studied to be a mechanic. He would have graduated later this year. Gary loved to cook--especially eggrolls. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, gambling, playing cards and BINGO, collecting coins and other odds & ends. He was an avid San Diego Chargers fan. He was happiest when spending time with his family and friends. Gary passed away at his home in Cherokee on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at age 46. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay. Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Amanda (Devin) Petersen of Norfolk, NE, and Ashley Adams of Osmond, NE; his mother, Irene Wilschester of San Diego, CA; a sister, Sherry Wilchester (Satch Drennan) of Larrabee, IA; three brothers, Jay (Cathy) Wilchester, Fred Wilchester and Tim Wilchester, all of San Diego, CA; other relatives and friends.
