Janet Elaine Wagner

July 27, 1946 — April 7, 2015

Jan was born on July 27, 1946 in Cherokee Iowa to William and Lucille King (Rasmussen) of Quimby, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Quimby and she attended Quimby High School, graduating in 1964. Jan married Roger Samuelson on June 19, 1965 and they had two sons, James Samuelson and David Samuelson. They lived in the Quimby area until 1982 and then moved to Park Rapids, MN. Later in life, Jan married Al Wagner of the Park Rapids area, residing there until Al's death in 2013. Jan then relocated to Branson, MO to live with her sister Joan Nelson. Jan is survived by her mother Lucille of Quimby; and her children David (Anitra) of Dilworth, MN and James (Marcia) and granddaughters Nicole and Andrea of Newburyport, MA. Jan is also survived by Al's children Tom of Park Rapids, MN; Chris of Rice, MN; Steve of Osage, MN; Linda of Grand Forks, ND and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jan is survived by siblings William (Sandy) King of Vergas, MN; Joan Nelson of Branson, MO; Roy (Mary) of Centennial, CO; and Julie (Chuck) Woolley of Cherokee as well as several nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Jan was preceded in death by her father William 'Bill' King and brother Ronald King. Jan was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, a thankful sister, and a caring friend. She was sweet and kind to all including her cats. She was preceded in death by her loving cat Bandit and survived by her beloved cat Sam. Jan was an outstanding artist, testing her craft in many ways. Jan enjoyed painting ceramics including multiple nativity sets for family and friends. Her gift of artistic detail was especially noticed in her ceramic birds and wildlife. She owned a ceramics shop in Quimby and enjoyed teaching painting classes. 'Grandma Wagner's' life was also fulfilled by her granddaughters and she passed on her artistic gifts to them. Jan also applied her skills as a creative candlemaker in Park Rapids. She developed a passion for the beauty of butterflies and was a collector of hundreds of butterfly items. Jan is now fluttering about with the most beautiful butterflies in heaven.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
