Jean Heinen

April 18, 1944 — January 30, 2018

 
Dorothy Jean (Glover) Heinen, the daughter of Ralph and Marcella (Rupp) Glover, was born April 18, 1944, in Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Cherokee and Quimby, where she graduated from Willow High School.
  
On November 24, 1972, she was united in marriage to Ed Heinen at St. John’s Catholic Church in Quimby, IA. Jean primarily worked at home helping to raise their two daughters, Kelly and Stacie. It is a job she thoroughly loved to do.
 
Jean was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she helped with funeral lunches and volunteered her time in various women’s circles. She always had a smile on her face and enjoyed visiting with anyone. She loved gardening especially raising African violets. Most of all, Jean cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
 
On January 30, 2018, Jean passed away surrounded by her family at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marcella Glover; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Marie Heinen; brother, Raymond Glover; and two brothers-in-law, Charles Heinen and LeRoy Heinen.
 
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ed Heinen of Cherokee, IA; two daughters, Kelly Heinen and special friend, Scott Sargent of Fort Dodge, IA, and Stacie (Dan) Thomsen and their daughter, Mackenzie of Vinton, IA; sister, Mary Ann (Richard) Gagnon of Massachusetts; brothers, Chuck (Ingrid) of Germany, and Harold (Butch) Glover of Cherokee, IA; sisters-in-law, Marlene Heinen of Algona, IA, Patty Smith of Algona, IA, Joan (Dave) Ross of Waukee, IA, Mary (Pete) Wunders of Waukee, IA, and Cathy (Mike) Mosbach of Whittemore, IA; brothers-in-law, Richard (Karen) Heinen of Urbandale, IA, John (Ann) Heinen of Urbandale, IA, and Mike (Carla) Heinen of Aurula, CO; she is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday night at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a 7:00 p.m. prayer service to follow at the funeral home.
