Jeanette Helen Arndt

Jeanette Helen Arndt, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Schall) Hart was born on June 3, 1939, in Pocahontas, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Gilmore City, IA, where she attended school. During her junior years of school, she moved to Fort Dodge, IA, where she attended and graduated from Fort Dodge St. Edmunds High School. She later attended business school.

 On June 15, 1963, she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Arndt at Corpus Christy Catholic Church in Fort Dodge. Jeanette worked in Fort Dodge as a bank supervisor. In 1966, they moved to Storm Lake, IA where she worked from home and also assisted with various seasonal jobs. In 1992, they moved to Cherokee.

 Jeanette was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. She was also active in the Catholic Daughter’s of America, and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, where she served communion to shut-ins. Jeanette also volunteered her time to various other groups and was known as a strong woman, who always enjoyed helping others. She also enjoyed bowling, aerobics, and spending time with the afternoon coffee groups. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

 On Wednesday, September 30, 2020, Jeanette passed away at Cherokee Specialty Care at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Margaret Hart; her husband, Dick Arndt in 2006; one sister, Elaine Wempe; and three brothers, Francis Hart, Vincent Hart, and Edward Hart.

 She will lovingly be remembered by her children, Sharon Arndt-Nelson and her husband Jeff Nelson of Cherokee, IA, John Arndt of Sioux Falls, SD, and Sandra Meylor and her husband Bob of Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren: Zachary Nelson, Joy Blacketer, Christian Arndt, Mitchell Meylor, Edward Meylor, and Reilly Meylor; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

SERVICES
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2020, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. Social distancing will be practiced and masks will be required.

VISITATION
Public visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. with the family present during that time at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
