Jeanine Valentine

October 13, 1938 — July 22, 2022

 Jeanine Valentine, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Thompson) Struck was born October 13, 1938, in Spencer, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Truesdale/Webb, IA area where she attended school. She attended Storm Lake St.Mary’s School her senior year where she played basketball and graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1957.

 Jeanine was united in marriage to Troy N. Valentine on December 5, 1959 in Van Nuys, CA. They lived in California while Troy was serving in the Marine Corps. In 1960, they moved to Cherokee, IA. She worked as a secretary for Peterson Motors and the Larrabee School, and later worked as a bank teller. In 1975, she began working for the Cherokee Police Department and stayed until her retirement in 1994. While working for the police department, she also assisted with the Salvation Army.

 Jeanine was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the I.C. Women’s Guild. She was known for her cooking and baking and always had something sweet to eat. She was an avid reader, especially newspapers which she would read from front to back. She was a fount of knowledge. She enjoyed attending her church and loved to sing. She also liked to play the slots at the casino with her friends. She was an avid fan of the Cherokee Braves, Iowa Hawkeyes and New York Yankees. She loved to watch t.v. police shows, Dateline and Hallmark movies. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and friends and attending her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s events.

 On Friday, July 22, 2022, Jeanine passed away at Accura Healthcare in Aurelia, IA, at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her husband Troy; parents, Ray and Helen Struck; her father and mother-in-law Lee and Ruby Howe, and two brothers-in-law, Danny Steinkamp and Bernie Proczak.

 
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Troy (Leanne) Valentine of Cherokee, IA, Lori (Steven) Bruder of Cherokee, IA, and Lisa (Jeff) Hoover of Marshall, MN; grandchildren, Alanna (Gabe) Fuller, Trey Valentine, Joe Bruder, Karlee (Simon) Fuller, Collin Hoover, Cami (Boyer) Bouman, and Cassie Hoover; great-grandchildren; Tyson, Briel, Tate, Titus, Noah, and Everlee; siblings, Alice Ann Sanchez of Golden, Colorado, Karen (Denny) Fay of Churdan, IA, Marilyn Steinkamp of Derby,Kansas, Fran Proczak of Storm Lake, IA, Paul (Darla) Struck of Cherokee, IA, Giles (Jan) Struck of Omaha, Nebraska, John (Marsha) Struck of Cedar Falls, IA, Ronnie (Denise) Struck of Storm Lake, IA, and Mark (DeAnna) Struck of Council Bluffs, IA; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

SERVICES
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.
