Jeanne Marie Ravnsborg

Jeanne Marie Ravnsborg, the daughter of Vernon and Betty (Mangels) Gordon was born May 27, 1952 in Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent on the family farm near Cherokee. She attended Meriden-Cleghorn High School and graduated in 1970. After graduation she moved to Iowa City, IA and worked as a nurse's aide. She returned to Cherokee and then worked at the Villa Nursing Home. On November 9, 1973, she was united in marriage to Rich Ravnsborg at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. They were blessed with one son, Jason. In 1980, they built a home on 11 acres near Quimby. Jeanne worked from home helping to raise their son, taking care of the acreage and assisting with the livestock. Jeanne enjoyed cross stitch, canning, and cooking, all of which earned her ribbons at the county fairs over the years. She also enjoyed gardening and babysitting a number of children in the area for many years. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. On June 23, 2017, Jeanne passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Betty Gordon; and one brother-in-law, Jerry Massengale. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Rich Ravnsborg of Quimby, IA; son, Jason Ravnsborg of Yankton, SD; three sisters: her twin, Joanne Massengale of Monticello, KY, Pam Harrmann of Paullina, IA, and Nancy (Norm) Hill of Sutherland, IA; she is also survived by several nieces; nephews; and friends.
