Joyce M. Woltman

Joyce Marie Woltman, the daughter of Arthur and Odelia 'Della' (Thorman) Kohn was born on December 29, 1941, in Cherokee, IA. Her father passed away when she was very young and she was raised by her mother and step-father Aloysius George. She was a lifelong resident of Cherokee until recently moving to the Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in 1960 and attended Saint Mary's Nursing School with her sister Carol in Pierre, South Dakota. Following her schooling, Joyce worked at the Cherokee Mental Health and then Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital for 37 years, where she retired in 2004. On September 10, 1968, she was united in marriage to Richard Woltman in Sibley, Iowa. Joyce enjoyed watching her Minnesota Twins on T.V., she was an avid reader and loved to spend time with family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to all. She is survived by one sister, Paula Dodds and her husband Richard of South Sioux City, NE; four brothers: Mark George and wife Kim of Cherokee, IA, Kent George and wife Denise of Waterloo, IA, Karl George, and Jan George and wife Doris all of Sioux City, IA; two brothers-in-law: Jerry Frost of Gettysburg, SD and Lesly Gehlsen of Carroll, IA; two stepsons: Richard Woltman and his wife Margel of Courtland, MN and Rick Woltman and his wife Chrystal of Cherokee, IA; two stepdaughters: Mary Jo Johnson and her husband Jim of Aurelia, IA and Jeanie Woltman of Cherokee, IA; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Woltman of Aurelia, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and friends. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Richard Woltman; her parents, Arthur Kohn and Odelia 'Della' (Thorman) George; stepfather, Aloysius George; two sisters, Carol Frost and Eleanor Gehlsen; and one stepson, Herman Woltman.
