Karen E. Schleef

October 6, 1944 — April 9, 2011

Karen Elaine Schleef, the daughter of Chester and Gladys (Lewis) McTasney, was born October 6, 1944, in Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent in New Jersey where she attended school and graduated from North Arlington High School in North Arlington, NJ. Following graduation, Karen attended a business trade school for a short time. Karen moved back to Cherokee in 1967. On February 17, 1968, she was united in marriage to Marlin Schleef in Cherokee. Karen worked as a CNA for the Mental Health Institute since 1979. She retired in 1992 due to health problems. Whenever possible, Karen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. On April 9, 2011, Karen passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center at the age of 66. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Jason Schleef of Cherokee, IA; one aunt, Phoebe Mummert of Cherokee, IA; as well as other relatives and friends.

SERVICES

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday night at Greenwood Funeral Home.
