Lela M. Rose

Lela was born August 23, 1930 in rural Cleghorn, Iowa, to Wilfred "Bill" and Louise (Kirchoff) Bush. She graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee, Iowa in 1948. On February 4, 1950 she married Perry Wilmer Rose at Maryhill. He preceded her in death October 7, 1997. Lela and Perry farmed for many years in near Cleghorn. Lela was happiest with her old hat atop her tractor in the field and later her riding lawnmower. She was employed by the State of Iowa for many years at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute and the Cherokee and Marcus, Iowa Liquor Stores. She was a farm wife in every sense. She always had a huge garden and would can everything she could get her hands on. She loved her family, her church, and the farm. Surviving are her 8 children; Linda Scott, and her husband, Mike, of Aurelia, Iowa; Mike Rose, of rural Larrabee, Iowa; Pat Rose, and his wife, Mona, of Owatonna, Minnesota; Bill Rose, of rural Cleghorn, Iowa; Joe Rose, and his wife, Roxy, of Redwood Falls, Minnesota; Matt Rose, of rural Cleghorn, Iowa; Nick Rose, and his wife, Mary, of rural Cleghorn, Iowa; Mary Long, and her husband, Don, of Ozark, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, Holly Scott, and her special friend, Kirk Hamilton; Tyler Scott, and his special friend, Stephanie Mongan; Sarah Boyle, and her husband, Rusty; Erin Swift, and her husband, Dan; Beau Rose, and his wife, Michelle; Judd Rose, John Rose, Emily Rose; Joseph Rose, and his fiancee, Casey Mortenson; Brandon Rose; Healther Nelson, and her husband, Drew; Cody Rose, and his special friend, Kelsey Guetter; Jesse Rose and 14 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Helen Mendt Anderson, and her husband, Walter, of rural cleghorn; a sister-in-law, Judy Rose, of Gold Canyon, Arizona; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, (Wilmer) and brother in laws (Emil Mendt and Dan Rose).
SERVICES
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 26, 2009, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Iowa.

VISITATION
Visitation will be held Sunday from 9:30 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa.
