Leo Jordahl

August 6, 1926 — November 6, 2020

Leo Jordahl, the youngest child of Christian and Caroline (Hatleli) Jordahl, was born August 6, 1926, in Albert Lea, MN. His childhood years were spent in Albert Lea where he attended school and graduated from Central High School. After high school, Leo went to work for Wilson Foods. While working at Wilson foods he was able to attend the University of Minnesota. In 1965, Leo transferred to the Cherokee, Iowa, Wilson Foods plant, where he was beef division superintendant.

Leo was united in marriage to Pearl Rovang in Albert Lea. Following her passing, he was later united in marriage to June Holway Colvin on April 3, 1976. Leo continued working at Wilson’s for many years and closed out his career as a Labor Relations Manager when he retired in 1984. He then worked for the USDA as a meat grader and managed Quinn’s Liquor store.

Leo was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. He sang in the choir for many years and donated his time to various church activities. He was a member of the Toastmasters Club and received many awards. Leo was a man of great faith and loved both his church and his family.

In his free time, he enjoyed anything and everything outdoors. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed passing his passion for hunting and fishing on to his children. He also enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, cribbage, cards, and golf, which included a hole-in-one. He was a die-hard Vikings fan and also loved caring for his dogs. In his early days Leo played marbles and was crowned Albert Lea Marble Champion in 1931. Leo loved to sing and entertained family and friends with one of his favorite songs, The Harlem Goat. He loved these activities, especially when sharing them with family and friends.

Leo Jordahl, age 94 of Cherokee, IA, passed away Friday, Nov ember 6, 2020, at Accura Health in Aurelia, IA surrounded by his family members. He was preceded in death by his spouses, Pearl Jordahl and June Jordahl; one sister, Sally Robinson; five brothers, Oscar, Kenneth, Nervand, Merland, and Carl Jordahl.

He will lovingly be remembered by his children, Allan Jordahl of Larrabee, IA, Jason (Jannette) Colvin of O’Fallon, MO, Mark (Kim) Colvin of West Branch, IA, and Gary (Ann) Colvin of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: Jacob (Lacey) Colvin, Laura (Rob) Alderson, Rachael Colvin, Kyle Colvin (fiancé Tessa Kvidahl), Cassie Colvin, Amanda (Brian) Colvin Dunn, Justin Colvin, Nate Colvin, Jason (Amy) Jordahl, and Jennie (Jeff) Noble; great-grandchildren, Ava Alderson, Josie Alderson, Gabrielle Jordahl, Garrett Jordahl, Makenna Jordahl, Mason Jordahl, and Julia Noble; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, IA. Social distancing and masks are strongly encouraged for those in attendance.

VISITATION
Public visitation with family present will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday night at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Social distancing and masks are strongly encouraged during visitation.
