Leroy Hans Paulsen

Leroy Hans Paulsen, the son of Andrew and Hilda (Kollbaum) Paulsen, was born December 14, 1935 in Anthon, IA. Following his schooling, Leroy was a SP3 in the United States Army stationed in Hanau, Germany. On February 18, 1958, Leroy was united in marriage to Annabelle Regennitter. He was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Battle Creek, IA, on May 25, 1969. Leroy had worked at the Brickyards in Sergeant Bluff and Sioux City, was a farmhand for many years at Danbury and Cherokee, worked for Simonsen's at Quimby for 31 years, and also delivered papers for the Sioux City Journal for many years. He retired in 2000 at the age of 65. Leroy enjoyed his grandchildren, listening to country and gospel music on the AM radio, gardening, wild life, watching wrestling on TV, playing the marble board game with friends and family, and being caregiver to his wife, Annie. On March 27, 2013, Leroy passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his grandparents in Germany; grandparents, Fred and Rose Kollbaum; parents, Andrew and Hilda (Kollbaum) Paulsen; one brother, Duane Paulsen; and one sister, Darlene Cooper. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Annabelle Paulsen of Washta, IA, his children: Lyle (Deb) Paulsen of Washta, IA, Deb (Paul) Hyndman of Cherokee, IA, Laura Wooliscroft-Bagley of Minnesota, and Denita Priceof Washta, IA; one brother, Kenneth (Janice) Paulsen of Sioux City, IA; his grandchildren; and many sisters and brothers in law; nieces; nephews; and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee. Military services will be held at the funeral home by the V.F.W. L.A. Wescott Post 2253 of Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at noon on Friday, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday night at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
