Lynette Sue Gates

November 26, 1944 — October 4, 2017

Lyn was the middle child of Ray and Helen (Meyer) Gates from Marcus, IA. She began her nursing career at St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Sioux City. She also worked in Omaha and Washington, D.C. area hospitals. She completed her career working for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and retired in Woodbridge, VA. Her brother, Jon, preceded her in death. She is survived by siblings Janice Schilmoeller, Keith (Faith), Marilee Buland, Tom (Margo), Carol Mullen (Dan), Brian (Chris) and Dan (Rhonda). A 'Favorite Aunt' to 31 nieces and nephews, she never missed a special celebration or family reunion. Lyn will be missed for her quick laugh, her political engagement and her contributions to her local food pantry.

SERVICES

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2017, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Woodbridge, VA. There will be a separate memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Lutheran Church of The Master 114th & Center in Omaha, NE.
