Maredith 'Chris' Newell

Maredith "Chris" Newell, the daughter of Henry and Marion (Ludwig) Christie was born June 14, 1942, in Battle Creek, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Battle Creek where she attended School and graduated from Battle Creek High School. After graduation, Chris attended college in Indiana. Following her schooling, she moved back to the Cherokee area, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Fredrickson Grain in Meriden. On August 11, 1973, Chris was united in marriage to Dale Newell at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, IA. They started their own trucking business where she served as the bookkeeper and was Dale's co-driver. In her free time, Chris liked to play games on the computer, volunteer as a teacher's aid for the MMC School System, raise Corgis, and spend time at family reunions, but most of all, Chris enjoyed being around her family and helping those in need. On March 9, 2010, Chris passed away unexpectedly at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Dale Newell of Meriden, IA; one daughter, Tammy Trout of North Little Rock, AR; son Tim (Phyllis) Ricklefs and their son, C.J. of Marcus, IA; one brother, Richard (Sharon) Christie of Des Moines, IA; one step-daughter, Marlo Casaday of Kingsley, IA; as well as other nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 12, 2010, at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, with the family present from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday night at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.
