Marian D. Johnsen

August 20, 1931 — December 20, 2013

Marian Doris Carlson was born on August 20, 1931, in Fonda, Iowa, to Clarence and Clara (Ohrtman) Carlson. She graduated from Fonda High School in 1948. Following graduation, she worked at the First National Bank of Fonda for 20 years. On September 26, 1970, Marian married Keith Johnsen. They bought a farm near Quimby, Iowa, and spent many years raising cattle and growing crops. Marian was involved in many church activities at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Violet Seagren and brother Percy Carlson. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, JP Johnsen of Quimby, and daughter, Holly (Pete) Waltz of Algona, IA, her grandchildren, Harrison and Emerson Waltz, and many extended family and friends.

VISITATION

2:00 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 22 at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee. The family will be present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m.
