Marilyn M. Peck, age 61, of Cherokee, IA, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 26, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. Father Armand Bertrand will officiate. Visitation will begin at Noon on Thursday, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday night at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a prayer service starting at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday night at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cherokee. Online condolences may be sent to www.greenwoodfuneral.com. Mrs. Marilyn Peck, the former Marilyn Kohn, was born June 23, 1948, in Cherokee, IA. On February 14, 1982, she was united in marriage to James Peck in Cherokee. Mrs. Peck lived most of her life in Cherokee County. From 1967 - 1980, Mrs. Peck worked at the Mental Health Institute. From 1980 - 1989, she was the office manager at the Hilltop Care Center (later named Careage Hills). In 1989, Mrs. Peck became the Administrator at Careage Hills and she held this position until her retirement in November of 2009. Mrs. Peck had a very successful career, touching many lives and being named Administrator of the Year in 2003, by the Iowa Health Care Association. Mrs. Peck was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. She had several hobbies and interests including traveling, reading, cross-stitch, crocheting, knitting, playing cards and spending time with family. Mrs. Peck was a loving mother and wife and will be dearly missed. Survivors include her husband, Jim of Cherokee; one son, Jason and his wife Laura of Dodge Center, MN; two daughters, Melaney Anderson and her fiance Bob Ernst of Adair, IA, and Cindy Rowland and her husband Richard Rowland of Boone, IA; three grandchildren, Kayla and Tyler Anderson and Amelia Peck; three brothers, Ron Kohn and his wife Joanne of Glenwood, IA, Larry Kohn and his wife Linda of Waterloo, NE, and Doug Kohn and his wife Virginia of Quimby, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Margaret Kohn; and one son-in-law, Tom Anderson, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, February 26, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Church in Cherokee, Iowa
