Marilyn R. Anderson

September 30, 1931 — June 15, 2012

Marilyn Ruth Anderson of Cherokee, Iowa went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 15, 2012. Marilyn was born in Centerville, South Dakota on September 30, 1931. Marilyn married Richard Anderson on November 11, 1951. They were blessed with 60 wonderful years together. They raised their family in Cherokee, Iowa. Marilyn worked at Cherokee State Bank and they were members at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church. In 1978 they moved to Kingsburg, California where they farmed fruit and grapes for twenty years and were active members in the Kingsburg Evangelical Free Church. These years were special as they were surrounded by their children and grandchildren. Marilyn will be remembered for her wonderful gift of hospitality and entertaining both family and friends. Upon retirement, they returned to Cherokee, Iowa spending their winters in Lake Havasu, AZ. This past year during her recent illness, she drew her strength and deepened her relationship with Jesus Christ. Marilyn is survived by her husband Richard Anderson of Cherokee, IA; son, Dan (Marlys) of Cherokee, IA; son Scott (Carol) Anderson of Kingsburg, CA; grandchildren: Dan Anderson Jr. of Aurelia, IA; Chantelle (Jared) Friedman of Brandon, SD; Carlene Anderson of Los Gatos, CA and Tyler Anderson of Walnut Creek, CA; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Maddy, Lauren, and Jacob Friedman; two brothers, Stanley (Verla) Knudson of Centerville, SD and Delmar (Arlene) Knudson of Centerville, SD; one sister, Ferne (Delmer) Olson of Beresford, SD; many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sigvold and Ruth Knudson; brother, Ralph and infant sister, Loraine; and granddaughter Brigitte Anderson.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the Meriden Evangelical Free Church in Meriden.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at noon on Monday, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Monday evening at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a prayer service Monday at the funeral home.
